Pulp and Paper Engineering is one of the second-level disciplines under the first-level discipline of light industry technology and engineering. It is the production technology and process of paper and other light textile products processed by chemical, physical and mechanical methods based on a variety of natural plant resources and products as raw materials. Pulp and paper engineering mainly studies the clean production technology of pulping and papermaking, wet end chemistry and papermaking additives, applied pulping and papermaking biotechnology, composite specialty paper manufacturing technology, etc.
The pulp after cooking or mechanical grinding, washing, screening and bleaching cannot be used directly for paper making. Because the fiber in the pulp lacks the necessary flexibility and the connection performance between the fiber and the fiber is not good, if it is used to make paper, the paper will be loose, porous, rough surface and low strength, which cannot meet the requirements of use. Beating is the use of mechanical methods to treat the fibers in the pulp to make them broom and moderately cut. More importantly, the fibers absorb water and swell during beating to make them have higher elasticity and plasticity, and meet the requirements of paper machine production. The paper produced can reach the expected quality index.
